For Immediate Release: Gravitas Gaming welcomes duo as new Quake Live division! GILROY, CALIFORNIA – June 26, 2009 – Gravitas Gaming, one of North America’s top eSports and competitive gaming organizations, is happy to announce the addition of a Quake Live division. The duo that will represent Gravitas Gaming Quake Live is none other than the legendary Brian "DKT" Flander and top Canadian player Justin "sparks" Sparks, a pair of the most talented Quake players in all of North America. The three letters "DKT" need no introduction. Brian "DKT" Flander has been a part of eSports for as long as many can remember. DKT is not only famous for his championships as a UT player, he's been a part of multiple successful Counter-Strike teams such as zEx and TSG as well as having his own cloth mousepad - the well-known DKT Pad. In addition to being a top player in multiple games, he was the general manager of the Chicago Chimera franchise, who won the CGS (DirecTV's Championship Gaming Series) Season 1 championship. Hailing from Canada, Justin "sparks" Sparks recently participated in the Quake Live Canada versus USA shootout match where the underdogs of Canada surprised the powerhouse USA team in a 2-1 victory. Sparks is one of Canada's top Quake talents and looks to dominate the North American Quake scene with the recent official release of Quake Live. *UPDATE* - With Gravitas.CS players Ben "ben" Hui and Derrick "impulsive" Truong's internet being down, the match that was planned to take place later tonight has been rescheduled to next Tuesday (July 7) at 9:30pm ET / 8:30pm CT / 6:30pm PT (subject to change). Stay tuned for continuing updates on this match here at GravitasGaming.net!--- With the past two drama-filled nights dealing with connection issues from both teams to other random mishaps against Evil Geniuses, Gravitas.CS (6-6) looks to finally play and finish a full match. Their opponent tonight will be the team formerly known as Arctic Thugz, now known as fujiTa 5 (2-11). While Gravitas, who would be the eight seed in the LAN playoffs (Dallas, TX - June 25-26) if the playoffs were to start today, is trying to recover from their current three match losing streak and secure a higher seed for the playoffs, fujiTa 5 have no plans to be in Dallas. That is due to the fact that F5 is currently the last place team in the ESEA-Invite standings. Well technically, they aren't the last place team, but that's only because of "INACTIVE SPOT" (the spot of the former compLexity team). This will be one of F5's final three matches this season and all they can hope for is to not end it on a sour note as they're currently on a seven game losing streak. Stay tuned for continuing updates on this match here at GravitasGaming.net! "Can't for Ediz (goodfornothing) to get back later this week, it's about time!" *UPDATE* - With both last night's and tonight's connection issues and mishaps, respectively - Gravitas.CS is once again scheduled to play Evil Geniuses in a doubleheader next Monday night (July 6). The 5:1 (nuke) match will either continue at the 7-3 score in favor of Gravitas or start from scratch (0-0) however it has not been decided yet so stay tuned for further details on that. The 7:1 (train) match is tentatively scheduled to happen right after. Both matches are scheduled for next Monday (July 6) with a start time at 10:00pm ET / 9:00pm CT / 7:00pm PT however again, they are subject to change. In addition, Gravitas' Ediz "goodfornothing" Basol will be back later this week so he will most likely be playing in both of these matches! Stay tuned for more details here as they come in here at GravitasGaming.net!
--- Following an overtime thrilling loss to Grid05 two nights ago, Gravitas.CS (6-6) is currently on a three-game losing streak with losses to what many consider America's top team, compLexity; one of the best Canadian teams in North Stars United; and the aforementioned Grid05 squad. On the flip side, Gravitas' opponent will be none other than Evil Geniuses (7-1). EG has more matches to make up than one can count. Their most recent ESEA-Invite match was a whole three weeks against compLexity where they lost a close one (12-16). [Note: EG was in Sweden bootcamping as well as partaking in the DreamHack Summer event.] With less than two weeks of play left, Gravitas will look to secure a spot in the offline playoff event (The ESEA LAN playoffs is planned to take place from July 25-26 in Dallas, TX) -- they are currently in 6th place -- with other top Canadian team Sway Gaming (6-7) and Dynasty (5-6) trailing closely behind them. Evil Geniuses on the other hand, while almost securing a playoff spot, still has to complete a whopping eight matches in the next two weeks. Stay tuned for continuing updates on this match here at GravitasGaming.net! "This match will be a challenging one, especially without Ediz (goodfornothing). He's staying an extra week in South America and should be getting back some time next week." Thomas "thoMz" Garcia-- To view more details on the match, click "Read more" below! |
